Women Writing for (a) Change Jacksonvilleis a growing community for Jacksonville writers. We focus primarily on women, but not exclusively. We strive to reach a diverse audience and to make our programs accessible to all, including all cultural groups, genders, and communities.

Join us for a restorative and generative workshop for teachers  and educators of all types to start the new academic year off right.

This fall, educators of all types will be facing a new year of curriculum change and challenge—a daunting prospect. But in the folk tale “Stone Soup,” everyone finds out that they have more than enough to feed themselves and strengthen their community.This new writing series, led by veteran teacher Anna Jacobson, will give teachers a chance to reflect on themselves, what gifts and strengths they bring to the classroom, and how to focus on the essential questions or themes they want to bring to the art of teaching in the 2023-2024 school year.Join us for a restorative and generative workshop to start the new academic year off right—a chance to reflect on your goals and find the right ingredients for abundant inspiration.This writing circle will hold space for classroom teachers and homeschoolers, retired educators, parents, space-holders, and anyone who finds themselves powerfully interested in their own learning and how we all learn. We’ll use the folk tale “Stone Soup” as a way to savor our practice of reading, reflecting, and writing about what makes a great learning community and ourselves powerful teachers, facilitators, and learners.Ultimately, participants in this writing circle will have the opportunity to contribute to the first ever Women Writing for (a) Change cookbook. Plus, we will have an optional ReadAround and gentle morning hike at the Theodore Roosevelt Area of Timucuan Preserve as a bonus activity.This circle will be facilitated by Anna Jacobson as her practicum for certification as a Women Writing for (a) Change facilitator. Open to anyone who identifies as a woman. Class sizes limited to 8.
