<h1>The Future of Art, Society, and Tech</h1><p><a href="https://fastfest.live" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">FAST Fest</a> is organized by <a href="https://metabeachsc.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Grand Strand Web3 Guild</a> and local organizations. This event will be held from September 2, 2023 in The Market Common area of Myrtle Beach.</p><h2>Help transform Myrtle Beach into “Meta Beach”!</h2><p>At our organization, we have a multifaceted approach towards achieving our goals. Firstly, we aim to provide education about the intersection of arts and technology to our community. We believe that by doing so, we can encourage the growth of our tech community, and foster innovation in the region. Additionally, we want to improve the tech competency of Myrtle Beach by offering programs and resources that support the development of technical skills. Furthermore, we hope to attract more creatives and tech individuals of diverse backgrounds to the area, as we believe that a diverse community leads to greater innovation and creativity. Lastly, we aim to stimulate the local economy by supporting the growth of tech companies and investors, which will bring new opportunities and jobs to the area.</p><h2>Providing Free Tech Education for the Public
</h2><p>We will be hosting keynote sessions, panel discussions, and classrooms for AI learning. This is open to all and free to attend!

Computer Lab 616. Learn to create amazing art using AI workflows! All levels of artists are welcome. Students will use Dell computers (provided by HGTC) and AI art generation tools (such as Dall-E) to create artwork, which can be taken home and shared on social media! Chris will go over how this technology is disrupting various industries and the powerful potential of using it as an artist.

AI Art Creation Workshop

Computer Lab 603. "Introduction to Developing Smart Contracts" is a course that provides an overview of web3 smart contracts. The course dives deeper by introducing the Neo platform and the languages and tools available to users. Additionally, the course offers guidance on where to find more resources. The Neo platform is an excellent choice for individuals who are familiar with general coding languages like Python, C#, Java, or Go but new to blockchain technology. Instructed by Joe Stewart, Security Researcher and Tech Wizard for Grand Strand Web3 Guild.

Intro to Developing Smart Contracts Workshop

Auditorium. XRVR will be hosting a high-score tournament at FAST Fest! Prepare to immerse yourself in heart-pounding pvp action inside their VR Esport Arena with the hit VR laser-tag game, ‘Versus’. Utilizing 400 square feet of co-located retro-futuristic laser tag, jump into the arena for PVP battles with your V-99 blaster and attempt to win over $200 in cash prizes! To enter the tournament, participants will pay a $10 entry fee.

Herman C. Jones Conference Room. This session answers questions about what exactly is artificial intelligence, why now, and should we be afraid. A brief explanation will be given of the cognitive models machine learning is built upon to help understand how it works which will inform what the tools of GenAI are useful for and how the tools should not be used. After discussing the big picture, practical examples will be demonstrated of using Chat-GPT, BARD, and other focused AI-assisted tools.

With new technologies being developed to process and produce information for users, especially artificial intelligence and machine learning models, critical information literacy is more important than ever for teaching students, researchers, and the general public about new and developing tools and the risks inherent in trusting popular AI and ML platforms to accurately respond to prompts for information. Knowing when to correctly deploy AI and ML technologies can empower students, teachers, researchers, and the general public to use these tools effectively and appropriately. We are proposing an approach that integrates critical information literacy with educational programs both in formal and informal environments to promote care and awareness of potential benefits and harms from these new technologies. Presented by Daniel S. DeLuca, Adjunct Professor of CCU.

Explorations of Artificial Intelligence in Art

Herman C. Jones Conference Room. The world needs AI! It can dissect and solve problems humans can only dream about—it could cure cancer. It could find a solution to climate change. It could (and already has) revolutionize(d) life. The world should fear AI! It stands poised to replace most human labor, and—if artificial general intelligence ever comes to pass—it might deem that we are unnecessary and inefficient “viruses” (as Agent Smith once called us). Less alarmingly, but still a concern and not at all improbable, AI might be like the industrial revolution, exponentially increased: it may rewrite everything we know about social and economic interaction, faster than we can make sense of it. But it will be hard to blame anyone for using it, given the efficiency gains and real benefits it promises. Instructed by Dr. Jonathan Trerise, Professor of Philosophy at Coastal Carolina University.

FAST Fest is ending the day with a eye-catching and riveting fashion show & concert! Located in the auditorium of HGTC Conference Center, Myrtle Beach on Sept. 2 from 7pm to 10pm. Seating is limited so reserve your free ticket today! Compassion Through Fashion is New Directions’ signature artistic fashion show and fundraiser featuring designs made of recycled, repurposed, or unusual materials. This show will include a presentation by New Directions, AI-generated fashion art on screens, models showcasing the outfits, and discussions with the designers. Pride Myrtle Beach will be there with info and volunteers. VJ artist Jrod.The.Alien will be displaying art and playing music!
