Join us in celebrating our high school students from across Chicago, who explored the intricacies of healthcare and technology.

Even when challenges arise, innovation persists. An interdisciplinary approach to problem-solving is key to optimizing the potential of our community’s future innovators. The Illinois Science and Technology Coalition is pleased to collaborate with The Gray Matter Experience, Code Nation, and Code Your Dreams for the return of the 6x3 Project series. ISTC and its program partners, Horizon Therapeutics, Baxter International, The Kathy Bolbouse Foundation, and The Christopher Family Foundation, challenged students to tackle issues that impact health outcomes in underserved communities. This program is designed to build relevant, applicable skills in STEM and entrepreneurship. The Bright Project and the ACT Project expose students to a real industry challenge, in-depth coding experience, and business models to prepare them for their future goals. Join ISTC in honoring all the developments, ideas, and innovations produced by the 6x3 Project&#x27;s student cohorts at a showcase made possible thanks to event partnerships with Baxter International and Google. The event will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. on August 4, with lunch provided. About the Legacy The Bright Project: 2021 marked the inaugural year of the first ever 6x3 Project. 20 students pioneered the first iteration, all representing different neighborhoods, schools, and communities in Chicago. One student stood out to the team as a consistent source of positive energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm. Duajuan Bright joined the 6x3 Project to better combine his love of coding with real-world application and further refine his workforce skills. Mr. Bright was a gracious teammate, compassionate leader, and persistent innovator. Shortly after the program concluded Mr. Bright passed away unexpectedly. His absence was felt by his family and friends, and the communities in which he was a part.To honor his memory and his impact on the STEM ecosystem here in Chicago, the first iteration of the 6x3 Project will be known as The Bright Project from here on out. The Bright legacy will serve as a reminder for future participants that every student can have an impact and pursue a future that brings them joy, just like Mr. Bright. T﻿he ACT Project: Co-Created by Joe Almeida, Chairman, President, and CEO of Baxter International Inc., the ACT (Activating Change Today) Initiative was launched as a multidimensional and multiyear initiative to advance inclusion and racial justice within the workplace and within the communities Baxter serves. ISTC’s ACT Project honors the work of Baxter leaders and employees through grassroots programming aimed at developing the next generation of innovators with an explicit lens on equity and justice. Transportation Information This event will be held in Windy City Academy at Google Chicago - Fulton Market. As this is a separate entrance from the main reception doors, please ensure that you are following directions to 1020 W. Fulton Market, as this is the exact address to Windy City Academy at Google Chicago. The entrance is a set of double glass doors located near the corner of Fulton St and Carpenter St, and are clearly labeled as Windy City Academy. We strongly recommend utilizing public transportation if possible. If taking the Metra, Union Station, and OTC are a 30+ minute walk away. CTA lines are accessible at or near both stations. The Morgan CTA station (Green &amp; Pink Lines) is one block away from the venue. If traveling via the Blue Line, the nearest stop is Grand. Nearby CTA Bus stops include Halstead &amp; Fulton Market and Grand &amp; Morgan. If you are driving, there is paid street parking and a paid public parking garage under our building (entrance on Carroll Street). There are also nearby parking garages available on SpotHero.
