Kayak Staten Island is an all-volunteer non-profit. We've provided FREE and low-cost kayaking for the public on the shorelines of Staten Island since 2007.

Please join Kayak Staten Island for an approx. 1 hour round-trip tour along the Northeastern shoreline of Staten Island.

777 Front St

Ahoy, paddlers! This 45-60 minute tour is for participants who are 12 YEARS AND UP (absolutely no exceptions) in double kayaks- so bring a friend or be paired with another participant. All minors must be with an adult. ONE TICKET EQUALS ONE SEAT in a double kayak- please do not purchase one ticket and bring additional participants as we will not have the boats to accommodate them. Please arrive early! 777 Front Street is on the shoreline in Stapleton. There is no structure at the address on display- this is a parking lot and is located between the Stapleton and Clifton train stations. We will paddle from our Front Street launch site down to the Alice Austen House Museum and back. The water conditions are a little more dynamic than a calm lake and is adjacent to an active shipping channel. Some of the trip may be against the current, but our large double ocean kayaks are very stable. Please note that only double-occupancy kayaks are available. This is an unfinished, uneven urban shoreline and not a smooth beach. Please wear waterproof, sturdy footwear and synthetic layers. No flip flops, full length jeans or cotton sweatshirts. A participant should be capable of lifting half of a 70 lb. boat. There will be adequate lighting on the boats for evening paddling.Please cancel if you can&#x27;t make it as we quickly &quot;sell out&quot; with donations We love extra donations but love our community more! If you cannot afford a $10 donation for financial hardship, please get in touch with us. These are donations which help us continue our free and low-cost programming so there will be no refunds issued (even for inclement weather).C﻿ome and enjoy our unique shoreline and view of NYC!
