This program explores how composers translate the music of other cultures to their own voices.

The Fairmount String Quartet concludes its 2023-24 classical season with "Art in Translation" - works that emulate music of other cultures including two Western takes on Eastern music - Lou Harrison's "String Quartet Set", and Ravel's "String Quartet in F", and a work by Korean composer Soo Yeon Lyuh who uses the Western string quartet instrumentation to imitate the sounds of the Korean Haegeum. A meet the artists reception will follow this performance.
