Join the National-Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) and T-REX for the University-level Hackathon

NOTE: This is an in-person event open to current Fall &#x27;23 Undergraduate and Graduate students. You must use a .edu email address to register.The NGA Geo-Hack for Humanity provides competitors and colleagues the opportunity to meet with other like-minded students to see what can be accomplished in a weekend of fun and exploration. OverviewThis year’s hackathon will be focused on Food Security. Students will be asked to analyze key indicators related to food availability in a region of the world. Analysis can include a wide variety of approaches, including the prediction of food availability based on crop yields, regional impacts/conflicts, human migration, government collapse, disease outbreaks, and famine. Student teams will be asked to conduct problem solving and data analysis, including the application of computer science and programming skills (Python, pivot tables, data sets, etc.). *Registration ends September 7th at noon CT.Student ResourcesNGA analysts will be assigned to each team and will be available throughout the event to support the students and answer questions. Multiple commercial and open data resources will be made available to student teams.Who Can ParticipateUniversity graduate and undergraduate students who will be enrolled in Fall 2023. Students can form their own teams or can register individually and join teams on site on the first day of the hackathon. University faculty are encouraged to assist in student team formation. Interdisciplinary student teams are encouraged. Teams should consist of no more than six individuals.DisclaimersThere will be photography at this event.
