Phil Knott will introduce us to the award winning Wildlife Croft and its very productive 3.8 ha. We will discuss how the croft has developed from its initial areas of trees, benefiting the croft in multiple ways by providing shelter for the poly tunnel and providing firewood and charcoal through coppicing. We will hear about the further planting of 3000 native trees, as well as the planting of fruit trees, hedges, shrubs and the creation of a wildflower meadow and ponds which have made the croft a haven for biodiversity. This croft is truly making the most of what you have got. We’ll look at the initial thought process and decision to plant trees as well as the objectives, challenges and benefits and future plans. We will also have a Croft woodland advisor from Woodland Trust joining us who can advise on the funding and advice they can offer.Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.Numbers are limited so booking is essential. Please note that this event is on steep ground and so it may not be suitable and accessible to all.
