Is your student struggling with reading? Have you asked for testing? Were denied? We will guide teachers and parents thru what to do next.

S﻿pecial education advocate Christina Maehr will explain the steps to take in order to ensure that your child with a disability gets appropriately evaluated for special education at no cost to the parents.

M﻿is-information about special education in public schools is common. Most teachers do not understand parent rights or their own. Parents should not have to pay for private testing or wait for an evaluation. It is the proactive obligation of schools to identify and provide services to all students suspected to have a disability and in need of services. This seminar will cover the basics of how to initiate testing, the difference in the teacher-referral versus parent-referral process, what to do if the school refuses to assess, and how you can contribute to a high quality assessment. This seminar is open to parents and teachers. There will be a Q&amp;A session at the end.
