We&#x27;ve become too accustomed to the throw-away lifestyle. If something breaks, we toss it out and buy a new one. This behavior is filling our landfills at an alarming rate, and electronic waste is now one of the biggest sources of pollution. So why not learn how to fix things instead?!Bring your broken, non-working items—electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, and more—for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We&#x27;ll provide workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you take apart and troubleshoot your item. Even if we can&#x27;t fix it, you&#x27;ll learn more about how it was made and how it works.This is a fun event for the whole family, so bring your kids! We are expanding rapidly and will be hosting events all over San Diego County. You will be the first to know every time we add a new event.*﻿*New** How to participate in our Clothing Swap hosting by I Love A Clean San Diego?I Love A Clean San Diego’s Clothing SWAP is happening in collaboration with the San Diego County Library Branches. SWAPs are an opportunity for people to exchange clothing items that are no longer used and obtain resources that would have otherwise ended up in the landfill.Join us on Saturday, July 1st from in conjunction with the San Diego Fixit Clinic and trade your clothing items for other goods at no cost. Participate by bringing any gently used clothes, like t-shirts, jeans, jackets, shoes, hats, and more.<ul><li>We WILL accept: Clean, new or used, second-hand items</li></ul><ul><li>We will NOT accept items with stains, smells, broken pieces</li><li>Participation is free. What should I do?I﻿f you don&#x27;t know if you will attend, please cancel your registration at least 3 days before the event to allow additional people to reserve a spot. Or simply email us at sdfixitclinic@gmail.com and let us know.**Too many no-shows attached to your email will result in no more allowances to pre-register, and you must attend as a walk-in.**Please note: no-shows can cause a severe issue when planning future programs regarding venues, volunteers, and location. We know this is a free event, but please give us the common courtesy and let us know if you cannot attend.Does this cost money?This event is free to attend, but it is not a drop-off and fix event. Instead, it is a hands-on event where participants can learn how to repair their items with the help of our expert coaches. What if my item needs a replacement part?As this is a free event, we do not provide replacement parts. You will be responsible for any costs incurred if your item requires additional or replacement parts. We may have some spare parts on hand, but it is the attendee&#x27;s responsibility to purchase and bring the necessary parts on the day of the event.In other words, this is a free event, so you are responsible for your equipment and any repairs that may be needed. We may have spare parts, but you must bring them if required.Will you accept walk-ins?We will accept walk-ins if there is time, but it depends on how quickly we can repair the items of the registered attendees.Do you take donations of tools and supplies?Oh boy, do we. If you have any old tools you don’t need, please bring them to the next SD Fixit Clinic and/or email us at sdfixitclinic@gmail.com to arrange drop-off locations.

<h1>V﻿olunteer Recruitment Event</h1><h3>D﻿ate: Thursday, July 6th</h3><h3>T﻿ime: 5:00pm to 6:30pm</h3><h3>W﻿here: Alpine Branch Library</h3><h3>W﻿hat:</h3>If you are handy with appliances, electronics, bicycles, and textiles, and enjoy repairing things and helping friends, family, and the community, consider volunteering with the SD Fixit Clinic.We are not just looking for tinkerers. We are also looking for program supporters. If you are interested in sharing your talents, such as virtual and front desk support, photography, data entry, website and graphic design, grant writing, or being an "I have an idea" person, we are looking for you.Volunteering with SD Fixit Clinic is a fantastic way to help the environment and your community. As a volunteer, you will assist people in repairing their broken household items, such as small appliances, electronics, and clothing. This helps to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and gives people the knowledge and skills to repair their belongings rather than throwing them away. Additionally, volunteering with SD Fixit Clinic provides an opportunity to meet new people, learn new skills, and make a positive impact.J﻿oin us on Thursday, July 6th, at Alpine Branch Library and learn what we are all about. D﻿rinks and light snacks will be served.
