Connect over bikes at the Women's Bike Summit! Come meet new bike friends and enjoy a morning of activities that support, enhance, and uplift your bicycling experience.A﻿ctivities<ul><li>E﻿arly morning group ride (optional): Group ride for the folks who like to get moving with the sunrise! </li><li>M﻿aintain Your Ride: practice hands-on DIY bicycle maintenance to keep our bikes rolling smoothly.</li><li>B﻿ike Fit: Gina Poertner, Certified Health Education Specialist, teaches us how to get more comfortable and more powerful on our bikes.</li><li>B﻿ikes and Bodies: Monica Howard, Nurse Practioner, walks us through taking care of our bodies when we get a saddle sore, when we crash, when we're menstruating, and more.</li><li>B﻿ike Petting Zoo: Curious about e-bikes? Have you ever seen a bakfiets? Is a trailer or a tag-along easier to use? Check out different kinds of bicycles and maybe even discover a new style of bike that fits your family's needs.</li><li>Youth Bike Rodeo: Kids ages 8-12 learn safe and confident bicycling with BikeWalkKC's expert instructors at Strang Park (just behind the library). </li><li>L﻿unch group ride (optional): Group ride to lunch at Strang Hall in downtown Overland Park! </li></ul>N﻿otes<ul><li>Children are welcome at the Women's Bike Summit! Bring your itty bitty kiddies to toddle around the room with the grown ups, send your school age child to our Youth Bike Rodeo, and bring your teen to learn along with the rest of us.</li><li>Early morning riders will split into an "A" group and "B" group. The A group can expect a 12-14 mph pace, and the B group can expect a 9-11 mph pace. Both groups will be 15ish miles of on-street riding, using as many bike lanes as we can find. This will be a no-drop ride, which means that you will never be left to ride alone. The ride will meet at 6:30 a.m. at the Johnson County Central Resource Library to leave at 7:00 a.m. and return by 8:30 a.m. for the rest of the Summit Day.</li><li>B﻿ring your lunch money, bicycle, helmet, bike lock and a water bottle for our lunch ride to Strang Hall. The route will be about 2.5 miles, on-street, and mostly flat. All confidence levels and abilities welcome-- everyone rides together, and no one will be left behind.</li></ul>The Women's Bike Summit is a FREE gender-inclusive event for people of all ages and backgrounds to come together to celebrate bicycling, discuss issues that are relevant and important to people on bikes, and get practical biking information and experience. Multiple ticket options are available!
