A poker run is a family-fun event where participants visit checkpoints throughout Birch Bay, drawing one playing card at each stop. The object of the game is to have the best poker hand at the end of the course. The Birch Bay Poker run is for participants on bicycles and golf carts only and is a FREE non-gambling event with prizes for the best poker hands. Teams must register in advance.While traveling on all public roads follow all rules and regulations as required by law. Do not drive your golf cart on public roads if it does not meet all state/county requirements. Golf carts may only operate in the Birch Bay golf cart zone area designated by the county.Kite Fest 2023 Poker Fun Stops:<ul><li>BP Heron Center</li><li>Jackson Rd. Beach Access</li><li>Birch Bay Market (next to the C Shop)</li><li>Beginning of the Berm Pathway at the mouth of Terrell Creek (Across from Lora Lane)</li><li>Rooted By The Bay - 7826 Birch Bay Drive</li><li>Beach Cat Brewing Co. - 7876 Birch Bay Drive</li></ul>Rules:<ul><li>Only one hand may be played per team. (A maximum of 52 teams may participate).</li><li>Teams MUST be conveyed by bicycle or golf cart. Walkers are ok, but note that it is 2.4 miles from the beginning of the course to the end. (People in cars will not be allowed to participate)</li><li>Stop locations can be visited in any order, but teams must make it to each stop to be eligible for prizes.</li><li>At each station, a volunteer will be present to help you select a card. Each volunteer will record your card on the official score sheet. (Teams may also keep track of their cards/hands for reference.)</li><li>Teams will "collect" (6) cards in total to try to create the best 5-card poker hand.</li><li>In the event of a tie, the 6th card will be used to break the tie and determine the winner.</li><li>Teams with the best hands will be eligible for prizes.</li><li>Birch Bay Chamber staff will determine winners and reserves the right to full discretion in determining winners. Winning teams will be contacted by email after the completion of the event.</li></ul>Poker Hand Rankings used to determine best hands:<ul><li>Five of a Kind</li><li>Royal Flush</li><li>Straight Flush</li><li>Four of a Kind</li><li>Full House</li><li>Flush</li><li>Straight</li><li>Three of a Kind</li><li>Two Pair</li><li>Pair</li><li>High Card</li><li>Ace is High</li></ul>Suit strength from high to low will be Spades/Hearts/Diamonds/Clubs.
