BOFFO IS A NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PRESENTS INNOVATIVE & EXPERIMENTAL ART, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN. Our initiatives include artist residencies, digital commissions, and the creation of spaces, experiences and exhibitions. Since 2009 we’ve served the artistic community by supportiing new work and stimulating interdisciplinary dialogues. We serve local communities by offering access to the greatest voices of all media, generations, and practices in unexpected and unconvential ways.BOFFO believes in art and design as a vehicle of change - a way to improve and enhance the quality of life of our communities and of individuals. BOFFO believes in enabling the greatest creative talent of our time to become powerful forces in shaping social, industry, and community landscapes.BOFFO is a New York State 501(c)(3) nonprofit exempt from federal income tax.

BOFFO is excited to announce the fifth edition of its  Performance Festival on Fire Island, organized this year in collaboration with Liūtauras Pšibilskis of OCDChinatown, a space for queer sound, image, object, movement, and thought located in a Chinatown mall in New York City. From August 2 - 4, over nine artists and artist collectives will present new and reimagined performances, music, and dance to Fire Island’s historically LGBTQ community. Highlights of this year's festival include an immersive Ryan McNamara performance and Young Boy Dancing Group's United States debut. 
This year’s theme, Dancing in the Face of Adversity, takes its name from a disco-track compilation released by Island Records in 1989. Dance has been and continues to be an iconic part of the cultural legacy of the LGBTQ communities that gather on Fire Island. Dance brings people together, creates resistance through joy, and has long offered a refuge in times of need. Against the backdrop of that history, this year’s festival presents dance in a multitude of forms, exploring its ability to foster connections, exchange energies, generate pleasure, allowing us to imagine the possibility of change.   
BOFFO invites the Fire Island community and guests to join us for the festival’s free public programming. We will continue to update our calendar, and share more details via newsletters, Eventbrite, Facebook, and Instagram as they develop.

Details: Complimentary cocktails will be served with sunset views from 6:30 - 8pm. Performance starts promptly at 8pm and requires a 15 minute walk. Tennis or hiking shoes encouraged.  
 
Saturday, August 3
BOFFO Fire Island Benefit Lunch & Pool Party

Details: Bring your swimsuit and towel for a poolside lunch, cocktails, swim, and music.

Details: There are three identical performances, each approximately 10 minutes long starting promptly at 7, 7:30, & 8pm.

Details: Complimentary cocktails will be served from 8:30 - 9:30pm.  Performance starts promptly at 9:30pm, cocktails served afterwards. The performance encourages walking on uneven ground in a wooded area. Tennis or hiking shoes suggested.
