Discover El Salvador's authentic food with award-winner cookbook author and cooking teacher Alicia Maher. No passport needed! Alicia will also give a brief talk on Salvadoran food history.
Alicia Maher is the author of Delicious El Salvador, Gourmand Winner's "Best First Cookbook in the World,” 2014, and El Salvador, Sabores Deliciosos. A 2018 Gourmand semi-finalist, category, translation. She was born and brought up in El Salvador and has made Los Angeles her home since 1986.
Alicia has been featured at The Latin Kitchen, Los Angeles Magazine Online, CNN Latino, La Opinion, EFE, Mundo Fox, Azteca T.V., Estrella T.V., UCLA Magazine, Revista Ella, Cook's Cook Magazine and more. In 2016 Alicia was a featured Salvadoran chef at the Latin Food Fest in Los Angeles. Alicia is known as "El Salvador's Culinary Ambassador”
Alicia graduated from UCLA with a bachelor’s degree in Art History, class of 1992.

Salvadoran turkey sandwich-Panes con pavo
Salvadoran Turkey Sandwich-Panes Con Pavo. This iconic dish is full of flavor, fresh and juicy. Besides just being plain delicious, this turkey sandwich is juicy, crunchy and nutritious. Roasted turkey cooked in a special tomato sauce with ground pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, cloves...Served on a French roll, with slices of vine-ripened tomatoes, cucumber, radishes, watercress, escarole lettuce.
