I﻿n this 90min session Kate and Anthony will demonstrate the basics of the folk tradition of Pizzica in both dance and music! Space and spots are limited so reserve a ticket early! A﻿lthough the event is free, a suggested donation of $15-20 to help Kate with her travel expenses would be incredibly helpful!M﻿ore about Kate Causbie: Kate is from Seattle, Washington and since 2018 has been chasing musica popolare traditions from Puglia, the homeland of her paternal grandmother&#x27;s family. She first encountered pizzica music and dance during research online, and from there discovered its land origin and her family&#x27;s story. She travels to Puglia regularly, learning as much as she can about pizzica and other Southern Italian folk music and dance. She is passionate about fostering bridges to these traditions for the Italian-American community, and is a strong believer in the power of music and dance to encapsulate memories, experiences, and identities lost to assimilation into &quot;Americanization.&quot; M﻿ore about Alla Boara:Alla Boara seeks to bring recognition and new life to Italy&#x27;s diverse history of regional folk music. Their modern arrangements of near-extinct folk songs are variously surprising, playful, mournful, tender, and bewitching. Alla Boara’s dynamic work aims to inspire audiences of all ethnic heritages to treasure their musical roots and consider historical songs’ contemporary cultural relevance. Currently touring their first record, Le Tre Sorelle, Alla Boara has received critical acclaim for its originality and accessibility and was recently featured in NPR’s “Shuffle”, SWR2 in Germany, All About Jazz, Jazz Weekly, and was predicted to have a bright future by Cleveland Magazine.
