Plant walks & workshops in herbal medicine, wild foods & craft–cultivating relationship with our plant kin, build ingcommunity with one another & (working towards) thriving together as part of the local ecosystem. On indigenous Tongva land (Los Angeles).

From Yucca and Dudleya-dotted craggy slopes to a rich riparian cooridor with silver-barked Alder trees, we will journey together to appreciate the final breaths of Spring before Summer sweeps in full force in beautiful Rubio Canyon! Breathe the nervous system-soothing scents of Cowboy&#x27;s Cologne and California Everlasting, three kinds of native sage &amp; California Bay Laurel. Meet a MAPLE tree that grows in LA County as well as several darling ferns and a local hero moss. Rubio Canyon abuts National Forest and is carefully preserved by the Arroyos and Foothills Conservancy. This walk is free, but donations are welcome, appreciated &amp; support ongoing conservation and plant education! We cannot tend for beings that we do not know–let’s gather to grow intimacy with the flora where we live, together! What to ExpectPlant Friends gatherings hold space for people to connect with the plants and one another. Everyone brings their knowledge &amp; curiosity to the collective! This trail is narrow with mostly gentle inclines but does involve a small amount of scrambling (think moderate difficulty). We walk slowly whilst admiring the plants. I I recommend bringing the following :)- + ample WATER + sun protection+ snacks (check out ROMA nearby for a quick sandwich option - vegetarians can opt for the veggie alternative to the famous sandwich - just ask at the front!)+ blank page notebook &amp; pen (we&#x27;re gonna do a drawing practice) optional: hand lens; binoculars A HUGE thank you to the Tongva, Kizch, Tataviam &amp; Chumash, the original indigenous &amp; ongoing stewards of this land and our more-than-humxn kin.
