Ashkenazis the East Bay's home to world music & dance... established 1973; nonprofit since 1997. We are always all ages! Kids 12 & under are admitted free unless otherwise noted.All of our online ticket sales are will call.We will have a list of ticket buyers at the door; you do not need to bring a printout of your ticket/order confirmation.Doors open 30 minutes before showtime, or 30 minutes before the dance lesson if there is one, unless otherwise noted.Ashkenaz's Café opens when doors open and offers beer (draft and bottled), wine, kombucha, juices, sodas, coffee and tea, and snacks and light meals (all vegetarian, mostly organic).

The Barton Hills Choir is coming to Ashkenaz to perform Grateful Dead and other rock classics!

Doors at 6:30 PM - Show at 7:00 PMThe Barton Hills Choir is thrilled to travel to Berkeley, CA from their hometown of Austin, TX to perform music of the Grateful Dead and other choir classics with the incomparable David Gans and friends at the Ashkenaz Music &amp; Dance Community Center.About The Choir:The Barton Hills Choir is a youth choir from Austin, Texas led by Gavin Tabone that specializes in music by the Grateful Dead and other classic rock artists. The Choir is accompanied by professional musicians, including guitarist Don “El Cento” Cento, bassist Aaron “Hair Doctor” Dembe, and drummer Jake “Mr. Bubbles” Perlman.Their repertoire spans golden oldies from the Beatles, Elvis, David Bowie, Grateful Dead and Beach Boys and numbers from Broadway musicals like “Mary Poppins” to songs from more current bands like Wilco, Muse, The Flaming Lips, Foo Fighters, and Belle and Sebastian. They perform annually at the Austin City Limits Music Festival and have traveled for shows in New York, Chicago, Denver, Portland (Maine), and DallasThey have shared the stage with Stuart Murdoch of Belle and Sebastian, singing sensation Nakia, guitar legend Charlie Sexton, and the Flaming Lips.
