Free tour of Langsford Cemetery to meet and appreciate the historic families of Lanesville:  Munsey, Langsford, Duley, Sargent and Haraden.

<h3>If you want to learn more about your roots or are just curious about local history, Melissa &amp; Russell Hobbs know the stories of those interred in Langsford Cemetery (circa 1857) and are eager to share them with you. Some stories will be tragic while others will be inspiring.  Some stories were forgotten while new stories have recently emerged through the Hobbs&#x27; extensive genealogical research.  You are in for a treat as you learn the colorful history of local families such as the <strong>Munsey, Langsford, Duley, Sargent, </strong>and<strong> Haraden</strong> whose lives were intertwined as they pursued their own destinies. </h3><h3>The Hobbs will also highlight the contributions of our Veterans who fought in the Civil War, the War of 1812  and the 1814 &quot;Battle of Gloucester&quot; at Folly Cove. These men  are remembered  in Langsford Cemetery. A reading of the names listed on the Langsford Civil War Monument will be read aloud by current Veterans.  Les Bartlett, a local quarry expert and visual artist, will give a brief talk on the &quot;The History of the Granite Civil War Monument&quot;.</h3><h3>A live demonstration on &quot;How to Clean a Gravestone &quot; will be on view throughout the tour.</h3><h3>Langsford Cemetery is not handicapped accessible. The ground is uneven and it is best to wear sturdy shoes. We look forward to your visit.</h3>
