Come hear the sweet voices of our new community youth choir as we welcome spring with our 1-hour concert, &quot;Dreams of a Child.&quot; We will share a variety of musical selections and poetry to remember the simple beauty of childhood dreams. You will hear selections from shows such as Matilda, the Musical, The Greatest Showman, and Brave, as well as uplifting and inspirational choral pieces from beloved composers such as Jim Papoulis and Amy Bernon.Our 38-member youth choir will be joined by a fabulous musical ensemble:- Bill Gesin (Principal Accompanist), Piano- Jacob Abarbanell, Percussion- Paul Haarala, ViolinAs well as:- Danielle Loveless, Conductor &amp; Music Director-﻿ Regina Ruopoli, Managing &amp; Artistic DirectorJoin us in The Great Room of St. James Episcopal Church at 1872 Camp Road on James Island at 4pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023! Doors open at 3:30 p.m. R﻿un Time: Approximately 55 minutes. Advance tickets highly recommended.-﻿---------------------------------------------Based in Charleston SC, at the James Island Arts &amp; Cultural Center, Palmetto Youth Choir provides singers in grades 1-12 with choral music education and performance experience while inspiring a lifelong love of singing and music. This choir is a premier group of young singers working together to build choral skills and musicianship, while having fun and providing connection and community!We explore an eclectic range of musical styles, and foster a fun, friendly and creative atmosphere. At our concert, a representative from The James Island Outreach will be present to collect food donations. This is a local charity providing food, labor and emergency funds to the people of James Island &amp; Folly Beach! www.jioutreach.orgTheir headquarters are right next door to our venue -- so this is an easy way we can all join together to do something good! Will you please bring a few food items with you Saturday to donate???While they welcome the donation of any unexpired non-perishable food items, following are some of the most needed:Current Food Needs:- Pasta &amp; Pasta Sauce- Canned vegetables (other than green beans)- Pork &amp; beans/Baked beans- Crackers/saltines- Pancake mix &amp; syrup- Peanut butter- Hearty Soups- Ketchup/mustard/mayo- Cooking oilEach month more than 170 households come to James Island Outreach for food assistance. Their food pantry provides fresh produce, frozen meats, bakery items and non-perishables to promote well-balanced nutrition. Last year, more than 213,000 pounds of food with an estimated value of $368,490, was shared with their community.Thank you in advance for helping them out! 🙏
