Driven by their desire to create a non-profit community space and their non-existent budget, they gathered some friends and started scavenging local junkyards, sanding wooden cubes, collecting trinkets, and building junk-art – all with the goal of bringing some artistic grit back to Boulder.

Fast forward to the present: The Junkyard is an eclectic community playground, cafe, and venue built by and for the community. With an incredible staff, an experienced board, and a ridiculously talented pool of artists, we’ve created a one of a kind mission-driven space.
