The development of powerful AI models like GPT-4 has sparked debate, with some calling for safety protocols and regulation.

With the release of the large language model GPT-4, the power of artificial intelligence has become the subject of curiosity, debate and concern. Recently, thousands of scientists and researchers signed on to an open letter calling on all AI labs to immediately pause training of AI systems more powerful than GPT-4.Should further development halt to allow creation of a set of shared safety protocols for advanced AI? Should AI systems be regulated? If so, how?The Rochester Beacon will host an online discussion focusing on these questions.
