Artist Workshop: Proverbs for a Desert Landscape

Proverbs have guided people since time immemorial. Allusions to the natural world shape behaviors compatible with the lifeways of other creatures. Against the backdrop of a changing desert, this workshop will invite participants to create new proverbs to encourage environmental awareness and motivate ecological responsibility today.This event is the third in a series of art-and-environment workshops presented in collaboration with the University of Arizona College of Fine Arts and hosted at the Desert Laboratory on Tumamoc Hill. Funding is provided by the Technology Research Initiative Fund/Water, Environmental, and Energy Solutions Initiative.Workshop Facilitators:Jonathon Keats is an experimental philosopher, artist, and writer whose conceptually-driven transdisciplinary projects explore all aspects of society, adapting methods from the sciences and the humanities.
