We are thrilled to invite you to this event focused on ChatGPT and foundation models and the need, the infrastructure, and regulatory landscapes for such models, from a US and EU perspective. This event is designed to provide insights from our expert panel into natural language processing and artificial intelligence from a technical and regulatory context.Join us for a panel discussion featuring experts in the field of AI, large language models, and privacy regulation, as we explore the need for foundation models like ChatGPT, their infrastructure requirements, and the critical role privacy plays in their development and implementation from both EU and US perspectives. Our panelists will provide valuable insights into how foundation models are being used across industries in both regions, and the infrastructure needed to support these models, as well as how access to such infrastructure for research can be secured. Jason Kwon, General Counsel, <a href="https://openai.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">OpenAI</a>Previously, Jason was the General Counsel of Y Combinator Continuity, Assistant General Counsel of Khosla Ventures and an Associate Attorney at Goodwin. He was a software engineer and product manager before practicing law. He has JD from UC Berkeley Law and a BA from Georgetown University.

Jennifer King, Privacy and Data Policy Fellow, <a href="https://hai.stanford.edu/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Stanford HAI</a>Dr. Jennifer King is the Privacy and Data Policy Fellow at the Stanford University Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence. An information scientist by training, Dr. King is a recognized expert and scholar in information privacy. Sitting at the intersection of human-computer interaction, law, and the social sciences, her research examines the public’s understanding and expectations of online privacy as well as the policy implications of emerging technologies. Most recently, her research explored alternatives to notice and consent (with the World Economic Forum), the impact of California’s new privacy laws, and dark patterns. Her past work includes projects focusing on social media, genetic privacy, mobile application platforms, the Internet of Things (IoT), and digital surveillance. Her scholarship has been recognized for its impact on policymaking by the Future of Privacy Forum, and she has been an invited speaker before the Federal Trade Commission at several Commission workshops. She has been featured in numerous publications and outlets, including The New York Times, the Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times, Wired, Recode, National Public Radio, CNBC, Bloomberg, CNET, Vox, Consumer Reports, NBC News, MIT Technology Review, among others.Dr. King completed her doctorate in Information Management and Systems at the University of California, Berkeley School of Information. Prior to joining HAI, Dr. King was the Director of Consumer Privacy at the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law school from 2018 to 2020. Before coming to Stanford, she was a co-director of the Center for Technology, Society, and Policy, a graduate student led research center at UC Berkeley, and was a privacy researcher at the Samuelson Law, Technology, and Public Policy Clinic at Berkeley Law. She was a member of the California State Advisory Board on Mobile Privacy Policies and the California State RFID Advisory Board. She received her Master’s in Information Management and Systems also from the University of California, Berkeley’s School of Information, and her undergraduate degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to entering academia she worked in security and in product management for several Internet companies, most notably Yahoo!.

Stine Mangor Tornmark, CEO and Co-founder, <a href="https://openli.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Openli</a> Stine is the CEO and Co-founder of Openli (a privacy tech company). Privacy and protecting data is important and with AI and the increasing need for data, it's becoming even more important in the future. Why? Because companies build and operate their entire business through software, tools and in the cloud. So they need to be on top of their own and all their vendors' GDPR &amp; privacy efforts. That's what Openli helps with: helping companies comply with the GDPR and scale their privacy efforts.Stine has a law degree and has been working as an attorney for 6 years in Denmark advising fortune top 500 companies about privacy &amp; tech. After that, she built a legal &amp; compliance team from 1 to 40+ people at Trustpilot and founded Openli that today helps companies with privacy &amp; GDPR. She has been advising the Danish Government (Digitaliseringspartnerskabet), OECD and other organizations on digitalisation, digital trust and privacy.

Magnus Sahlgren, Head of Research, NLU, PhD, <a href="https://www.ai.se/en" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">AI Sweden</a> Magnus Sahlgren is Head of Research for Natural Language Understanding at AI Sweden. Sahlgren has a PhD in computational linguistics, and his research lies at the intersection between computational linguistics, philosophy, and artificial intelligence. He is primarily known for his work on computational models of meaning, and he is currently leading the initiative to train large language models for the Nordic languages. Sahlgren has previously held positions at the Research Institutes of Sweden (RISE), the Swedish Defense Research Agency (FOI), the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS), Stockholm university, and he is the co-founder of the language technology company Gavagai AB.

A﻿lexander Young, Technical Marketing Engineer, <a href="https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nvidia</a>Alexander Young has spent 25+ years in the IT industry working for Sun Microsystems, Oracle, Ericsson, Microsoft and NVIDIA. He is currently a Technical Marketing Engineer at NVIDIA, in the Metropolis product development team, where he supports customers and partners using NVIDIA AI models, frameworks &amp; infrastructure.
