Exploring Flow: Brazilian Zouk Special Topics Series
IT’S NOT ONLY A CLASS, IT’S A LAB!
Brazilian Zouk has a unique flow to its movements. The sense of endless motion that the dance can provide is something special to do and feel, but also challenging to achieve. Awareness of your weight, body placement, directions and energy management are some of the elements that create and maintain the continuity of the movements, making them flow into a single beautiful pattern.

3-week series
July 16 - 30
In this lab with Gui Prada & Vanessa Scott, we will have 3 weeks to study the elements that create flow and apply them to zouk fundamentals. This lab will mainly focus on:
- Balance and elasticity
- Smoothing transitions
- Clever use of your vocabulary when social dancing
Part of each class will be spent working alone. We’ll work on our own movements and fluidity, discovering our own dance first before working on connecting to our partners.
Enrollment:
- $66 for the 3-week series
- No drop-ins - you must sign up for the full 3-week series
- When purchasing your ticket we ask you to decide if you'd like to lead or follow in the classes so we can keep the lead/follow ratio fairly even.
- Note: DanceSport Dupont Circle class cards cannot be used for this series.
Pre-requisite: Level 2 Progressive Fundamentals (and the preceding classes)
In order for you and others to benefit from this series, we ask that participants should have completed our District Zouk Level 2 (Progressive Fundamentals) or higher within the last 3 months. If you haven't completed those series but would like to join or are not sure if this series is right for you, reach out to a District Zouk instructor to see if this class is a good fit for you.
