Field Trip: Halverson Lake

Golden Eagle Audubon is dedicated to birding, wildlife education, cultivating native plants, habitat conservation, advocacy for birds, and more. As the Southwest Idaho chapter of the National Audubon Society, we offer birding trips for all ages, monthly educational presentations, community science programs, and work on the conservation and restoration of public lands. Most of our programs are free and open to the public as part of our commitment to serving the community. Join Golden Eagle Audubon Society for a birding hike to Halverson Lakes.

Celebration Park

Please register to attend this trip. Make sure you complete all fields and receive a confirmation email.Halverson Lakes is near Celebration Park in the Snake River Canyon. The area is unique for its curving two-mile sandbar along the Snake River and its two shallow lakes nestled below the rimrock and tall sand dunes. We should see a variety of raptors, waterfowl and desert species. This hike is relatively flat through sandy, sagebrush terrain. Plan for 2-3 miles of easy hiking.Time/Place: We&#x27;ll meet at 8 am at the boat ramp in Celebration Park to caravan to the trailhead. The boat ramp is across the parking lot from the visitor&#x27;s center. There is a day use fee of $2.00 at Celebration Park. Toilets are available at Celebration Park. The trails are not accessible.Wear clothes and shoes appropriate for desert hiking and bring water, snacks, binoculars and sun protection.Participants must be 16 and up unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
