Maryland Rising Phoenix Exercise: Actor Registration

FEMA, MDEM & MD Agencies will be testing their capability of running a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC).

Thank you for your interest in assisting with FEMA's 2023 Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) capability - Full Scale Exercise commonly referred to as “Rising Phoenix”; your participation is key to the Maryland Department of Emergency Management (MDEM) conducting an effective exercise. Assisting in the exercise will also provide you insight into how these centers operate. See below for more details. 

EVENT BACKGROUND: FEMA, MDEM &amp; MD Agencies will be testing their capability of running a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC). DRC's are places that provide disaster survivors a place to receive information, apply for assistance and disaster loans and learn about other resources available. In order to test this capability Actors are needed. Actors will be provided a card with details about the survivors situation. The DRC will have approximately 26 tables set up and Actors will visit those tables. Note: we encourage Actors that fluently speak other languages and have access or functional needs to participate for "real world" exercise testing purposes. 

DATE : Rising Phoenix will be held on Thursday, May 11th, 2023. 

LOCATION: Indoors @ The Bay Area Community Church, 884 Chesterfield Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401. - Anne Arundel county. 

TIME: Check-in is at 9AM-10AM. An exercise briefing will follow. Exercise "Play" will begin at 10AM and go to 2PM. Participants are asked to bring a lunch and will be able to to eat and take breaks in between exercise play. 

ACTORS: Actors must be 18 years or older. All participants will be asked to sign an exercise waiver. We are looking for approximately 100 participants. Exercise play will be indoors. 

Note: Please do not bring any unregistered volunteers, observers or children under the age of 16, day of registration is not possible. Due to legal considerations no-one under the age of 16 can be in the exercise area.
