Understanding the History of Obstetric Racism and How the Roles of Privilege Play a Part in the Current Care of Black Families

<p>This course is to raise awareness about obstetrical racism that will hopefully facilitate a change in beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors among doulas and other healthcare providers. This is designed to expose biases and educate doulas on what obstetric racism is and the racial disparities in childbirth that exist today. We will cover the historical context of maternal health care and gain perspective behind how racism plays a role in maternal health outcomes and offer anti-racism strategies to create equitable care in birthing spaces from birth workers.</p>
