As the global energy economy goes clean and green, will this trigger far reaching shifts and new political power dynamics? How can we decarbonize society without destabilizing geopolitics? Who stands to win? Founding Dean Alex Halliday will lead a discussion with Jason Bordoff— former Obama Administration Director of Energy and Climate Change—the Founding Director of the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and Co-Founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School.Please, join us for a unique opportunity, to hear from a leading expert on American energy policy and to ask your questions.The Speakers:<a href="https://www.energypolicy.columbia.edu/jason-bordoff/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Jason Bordoff </a>is the Founding Director of the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, where he is a Professor of Professional Practice, and a Co-Founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School. He is also a Senior Advisor at Macro Advisory Partners, a global strategic advising firm. He previously served as Special Assistant to President Barack Obama and Senior Director for Energy and Climate Change on the Staff of the National Security Council, and, prior to that, held senior policy positions on the White House’s National Economic Council and Council on Environmental Quality. Earlier in his career, he was a scholar at the Brookings Institution, served in the Treasury Department during the Clinton Administration, and was a consultant with McKinsey &amp; Company.One of the world’s leading energy and climate policy experts, Bordoff’s research and policy interests lie at the intersection of economics, energy, environment, and national security. He is a columnist for Foreign Policy magazine; a frequent commentator on TV and radio, including NPR, CNN, NBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, CBS, and BBC; has appeared on the Colbert Report; and has published in Foreign Affairs, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, the Economist, and other leading outlets.Bordoff chairs the Aspen Institute-Columbia Global Energy Forum and serves on numerous boards or advisory boards, including the Nature Conservancy of New York, Winrock International, Foreign Policy 4 America, the New York Energy Forum, and the World Economic Forum’s “Future of Energy Stewardship” Program. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Trilateral Commission, the Leadership Council of Sustainable Energy for All at the United Nations, the Steering Committee of the World Economic Forum’s “Mobilizing Investment for Clean Energy in Emerging Economies” Program, and the National Petroleum Council (a federally chartered advisory committee to Secretary of Energy).Bordoff graduated with honors from Harvard Law School, where he served on the Harvard Law Review, and clerked on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Halliday</a>, is the Founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School and Director of Columbia University’s Earth Institute. He joined the Earth Institute in April 2018, after spending more than a decade at the University of Oxford, during which time he was dean of science and engineering. With over 400 published research papers, Halliday has been a pioneer in developing mass spectrometry to measure small isotopic variations, helping to shed light on the birth and early development of our solar system, the interior workings of the Earth, and the processes that affect its surface environment.About Us:The climate crisis is a challenge like no other.
