Workshop Description: In this two-day workshop, attendees will learn the latest advances in the fields of trauma and attachment and will learn real-world trauma-informed approaches to crisis response, behavior modification, and stress reduction protocols for individuals and organizations. This workshop is highly recommended if you work with populations who have experienced adversity, chronic stress, and trauma. In -Person D﻿elivery: This workshop is offered in-person at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in located at 575 Division St., Biloxi, MS 39530. Interactive Synchronous Distance Learning Delivery: A synchronous, distance learning option is offered via Zoom teleconference. R﻿egistration Deadline: Registration ends at 11:30pm on June 14, 2023. L﻿earning Objectives: Upon completion of the training, participants will be able to 1) describe the latest science on trauma, neglect, and in-utero drug exposure. 2) explain evidenced-informed methods of responding to crises, de escalation protocols, and behavioral modification training. 3) list methods of increasing trauma-informed practices within their organization. C﻿E/CEU Requirements: This workshop has been approved for 12 CE credits (1.2 CEUs) by the Mississippi and Louisiana Social Work Boards and the Mississippi Department of Mental Health. It has also been approved for 1.2 CEUs for K-12 educators in Mississippi through S-RESA. We have applied for consideration of 12 general CE credits (1.2 CEUs) for social workers through ASWB ACE. In-person participants must sign in each day, attend the full training, and complete the evaluation. Online participants must sign on (synchronous) on time, attend the entire training, and complete the evaluation. Certificates for both in-person and online attendees will be emailed within 2 business days of course completion. A﻿bout the Speaker: Dr. Matthew Vasquez is the co-founder of the Gulf Coast Trauma Institute, an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Northern Iowa, and a former trauma therapist. For the last 10 years, he has taught, conducted research, and provided consultation services on the effects of trauma, its treatment, and trauma-informed care practices all over the country. His research has been published in numerous academic journals and featured on National Public Radio and in the Washington Post. Dr. Vasquez has provided provided consultation services on trauma-informed care practices across a variety of settings, including school districts, residential treatment centers, outpatient mental practices, and child welfare agencies, along with regional and national entitites such as Texas Health and Human Services Commission, the Midwest Trauma Services Network, and the International Trauma Center.
