Straight Up & Toasted Feat. Plasencia Cigars and The Balvenie Scotch

Fine Tobacco Club was founded in 2009 in New York City as “Fine Tobacco NYC.” It began with a simple goal: to bring together cigar smokers to appreciate the art and craft of fine tobacco together.What started as a few friends learning about cigars together has become perhaps the largest regularly meeting cigar group in the world. Each month, we bring together anyone who loves cigars, libations, and good conversation for cigar and spirits pairings, live jazz events, summer rooftop events, new product releases and more.After more than 200 gatherings over 10 years, Fine Tobacco Club now seeks to bring new experiences, friendships, and products to fine tobacco lovers everywhere.

We had the honor of hosting the New York launch of the Plasencia Alma Fuerte which later won the award for Cigar Snob's #1 Cigar of 2017.
Owned by father-and-son team Nestor Plasencia Sr. and Jr., the Plasencia tobacco operation is vast. In addition to large cigar factories in both Nicaragua and Honduras, the family (whose combined factories produce more than 35 million cigars a year) grows approximately 3,000 acres of tobacco in Nicaragua, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama.  - Cigar Aficionado
<H3>The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch</H3>
Our single malts from The Balvenie were hand picked in to pair with the bold richness of Plasencia cigars. Learn more about our two selections for the evening below.
Balvenie 12 Year Single Barrel
<IMG SRC="https://cdn.evbuc.com/eventlogos/36879024/singlebarrel12years2.jpg">
The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill is a 12 year old single malt whisky, aged in a first fill, ex-bourbon cask. Almost all Scotch whisky is matured in casks previously used by Bourbon distillers. When brought to Scotland and used for the very first time they are known as ‘First Fill’. The Malt Master samples the aged whisky, cask by cask and selects only those characterised by sweetness and subtle vanilla oak to be bottled as The Balvenie Single Barrel First Fill.
Balvenie 14 Year Carribbean Cask
<IMG SRC="https://cdn.evbuc.com/eventlogos/36879024/caribbeancask14yearlifestyleimage.jpg">
The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 year old single malt whisky has been matured in traditional oak whisky casks for 14 years, and then ‘finished’ in casks that previously held Caribbean rum.
To create the ideal finish Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums. When he judged the casks to be ready, the rum was replaced with the 14 year old spirit and the wood was put to work adding the final touches.
The result is an exceptional single malt whisky with the traditional smooth, honeyed character of The Balvenie married with notes of toffee and a hint of fruit, with a warm, lingering finish.
