This panel discussion is designed to equip aspiring and current small business owners with the knowledge and strategies needed to thrive!

Our panelists comprise a dynamic group of accomplished entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and business advisors, all with a shared commitment to fostering success within the Black business community. They will offer valuable insights on navigating the unique challenges faced by Black entrepreneurs and provide guidance on leveraging your strengths to excel in the marketplace.The event will feature interactive discussions, allowing attendees to participate, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversations. Whether you&#x27;re in the early stages of planning your business, have recently launched your venture, or are looking to scale your existing small business, this event promises to provide invaluable guidance and inspiration to help you achieve your goals.Featured speakers are Charles Mott, Associate Director DC Small Business Development Center Network, and Adia Coleman, Patent and Trademark Librarian for Howard University.

Speaker Bio:Mr. Charles Motte has over 35 years in the aerospace and management consulting industries with large and small firms in management and team leader capacities. He is knowledgeable on small business management with over 25 years of experience working in leadership and management as a business owner, employee, or consultant with small firms.He is currently the Associate Director at the DC Small Business Development Center (DCSBDC) at Howard University, Washington, DC. In this capacity, he works directly with the Executive Director in planning, implementing, managing, evaluating, reviewing and, reporting DCSBDC activities throughout the DC Network to the U.S. Small Business Administration (US SBA). He also counsels numerous DCSBDC small business clients, providing technical assistance, training, assistance with access to capital and business research. In 2021 alone, he counseled over 125 small businesses through the DCSBDC.His previous positions and firms include Director for Government Contracts and Procurement Services, DCSBDC; Founder and Principal Consultant of Heuristic Enterprises LLC; Director, Angarai International; Vice President and Co-owner, Aura Management Consulting, LLC; Business Development and Project Manager, Cornerstone Transportation Inc.; and, Senior Human Factors and Safety Engineer, Loral Corporation (now Lockheed Martin) respectively. He has also conducted workshops on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and Everything DiSC and has sat on the board of several non-profit organizations.He has a certificate in Project Management from the University of California Extension, Berkeley, CA; an MBA in New Ventures &amp; Small Business Management from California State University, East Bay (formerly California State University, Hayward), Hayward, CA; and a BS in Industrial Engineering, from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, CA. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI) and a member of the Association for Accredited Small Business Consultants (AASBC). He is an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Kappa Epsilon Lambda Chapter.
