SFSNAD is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and preservation of hand embroidery and needlework objects.We do this by offering high quality, educational and exhibition opportunities that honor imagination and creativity, with the goal of advancing the knowledge and practice of needlework and textile arts from around the world.We provide excellence in craft education from beginner to professional levels, taught by knowledgeable educators with diverse cultural and technical perspectives. We engage intergenerational communities who exchange slow craft traditions in a collaborative learning environment. We offer unique exhibition opportunities for both emerging and established artists in our two onsite Galleries, the Hanging Thread Gallery and the Corridor Gallery.

In this series, join Lucy Barter on an exploration of the national flowers of the United Kingdom through needlework! Each design will be offered as a two-session course. Bundle all four designs for a special discount!

Each design, offered as a two-session course, will expose you to the symbolic flora of the UK&#x27;s four regions: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Discover the history and beauty of the distinctive Tudor rose, the shamrock of Ireland, the thistle of Scotland, and the daffodil of Wales. These classic designs consist of cross filling, blackwork patterns, gold couching, pearl purl, and padded satin stitching. Lucy served as the resident embroidery teacher at Filoli, created a Goldwork Embroidery Craftsy class, and served as the US Course Coordinator and instructor for the Royal School of Needlework.In 2006, Lucy graduated from the Royal School of Needlework Apprenticeship Programme, and holds a BA Honors Degree in Fashion Design from the University of Northumbria. Lucy brings many valuable years of teaching, design and technical expertise to the needlework field. She is passionate about sharing traditional embroidery techniques.

Registration for this class closes 2 weeks prior to the start date in order to allow for the shipment of kits for domestic shipping and 4 weeks for international shipping. Please note that all international orders will incur a $15 surcharge billed separately. If you would like to inquire about the possibility of late registration, please contact info@sfsnad.org. Late registration will be accommodated when possible with an additional expedited shipping fee.Cancellation policy: SNAD will refund tuition less a $25 processing fee up to 3 days (72 hours) prior to class start time. No refunds for cancellations with less than 3 days notification before class start time.
