The Dacotah Prairie Museum celebrates 50 years as Brown County’s premier history museum. Over the decades the Museum has been a storehouse for the county’s collective memory and has provided exceptional archival, research, exhibit and educational services. The Museum is housed in the historic Northwestern Bank building built in 1889, a cornerstone of Aberdeen’s vibrant downtown district.Exhibits on display highlight Brown County's history and the people who lived here past and present. Art exhibits by local artists rotate through the galleries on a regular basis as well as traveling STEM and history exhibits. Finish your visit with a spin through the Museum Store for a fun and memorable takeaway souvenir.Gallery & Museum Store Hours: Tues.-Fri. 9am-5pm and Sat. 11am-4pm. Centennial Village

<h2>For Young Adults &amp; Adults, Ages 12 and up!</h2>Join us for a combination Science-History-Art Two-Day Workshop!Learn about and take part in the natural dye process, from raw material to discussion of uses for finished products, including information on foraging natural materials and their effects, preparing fiber for dyeing, and the process of dyeing. Participants will take home their own dyed skeins (no flat cloth, we are dyeing yarn). All materials provided. <h3>Please note, participants will work around heating elements and boiling water and are responsible for their own safety.</h3>Participants will attend TWO DAYS when they sign up for the workshop. <ul><li>Day 1: History of dyeing + prepare mordant and colorants</li><li>Day 2: Dyeing skeins, and drying them. </li></ul>June 20 -21, Tuesday &amp; WednesdayEach day will be 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. with a late morning break.This camp takes place at Centennial Village, Brown County Fairgrounds.Each two-day session is capped at 12 participants. T﻿hank you to 3M Aberdeen for a Board Service Match grant for this program.

ART CAMP: Inspiration awaits! Take a trip to Centennial Village to be an artist for the morning. New theme daily. Campers may register for more than one day in each session. Be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing, the days may be hot or rainy. Wear clothing that is best suited to working with glue, paint, etc. For Ages 8-14*<h3>Instructor: Lora Schaunaman, Professional Artist</h3>
“Draw, paint and try exciting new art projects each day of Art Camp!” <h3>Camp will be held 9AM to 12NOON each day.</h3><ul><li>Session I: June 12-15</li><li>Session II: June 26-29</li></ul>*Campers must be at least 8 years old by July 1st.Bottled water and a healthy snack will be provided.

HISTORY CAMP: How did the Pioneers live? Experience pioneer life with old-time chores, cooking over a campfire, old-fashioned games &amp; more! Campers may register for one day per session, if desired. Session II is "senior" history camp that offers a varied, more in-depth camping experience for REPEAT CAMPERS. For Ages 7-13*<h3>Instructor: Sherri Rawstern &amp; Kristin Boeshans, Curators of Education</h3><h3>Camp will be held 9AM to 3PM each day.</h3>Session I: July 5-7 (suggested age groups)<ul><li>Wed. July 5 - (7-9)</li><li>Thur. July 6 - (9-11)</li><li>Fri. July 8 - (11-13)</li></ul>Session II: July 12-14Senior Camp (suggested age groups)<ul><li>Wed. July 12 - (7-9)</li><li>Thur. July 13 - (9-11)</li><li>Fri. July 14 - (11-13)</li></ul>*Campers must be at least 7 years old by July 1st.Camper must bring a sack lunch. Bottled water and old-fashioned snacks will be provided. If the heat index exceeds 100degrees, history camp will end at 1PM.

RAILROAD CAMP: All Aboard! In conjunction with our summer traveling exhibit, "Thomas &amp; Friends: Explore the Rails" from the Minnesota Children's Museum.
