Get ready to redefine what it means to be a Strong Black Woman at the Strong Black Woman Redefined mental wellness conference, proudly hosted by Mindful + Melanated. Crafted by a Black woman specifically for Black women, this annual conference is a powerhouse event uniting policymakers, healthcare professionals, and those with lived experiences to tackle the vital issues of suicide prevention and breaking free from the suffocating stereotype of the Strong Black Woman.

This year's theme, "Relax, Relate, Release" (cue the Whitley Gilbert voice), sets the stage for an unforgettable journey. Prepare to bridge the gap between silent suffering and seeking support during this action-packed day.

Immerse yourself in a world of tailored mental wellness education and a treasure trove of resources geared towards personal and professional growth, suicide prevention, harm reduction, and diverse healing modalities, all curated with Black women in mind.

In the wake of the pandemic, the urgent need for mental health services has never been clearer. Strong Black Woman Redefined not only empowers you to shed the facade of false resilience but also offers a sanctuary to reconnect and access vital support and resources.

This is your invitation if you:

- Are grappling with unidentifiable emotions and crave understanding

- Refuse to be pigeonholed as the "Angry Black Woman" in your workplace

- Yearn to connect with a therapist or other wellness practitioners

- Are ready to embark on a transformative self-care journey

- Recognize the necessity of setting and enforcing healthy boundaries

Don't miss out on this opportunity to rewrite the narrative and reclaim your mental wellness journey. Join us at Strong Black Woman Redefined and let's ignite the flame of empowerment together!

Frequently asked questions

I can't afford the general admission ticket, will there be any scholarships or discounts available?

There are (2) ways to get a discounted ticket. Members of Mindful + Melanated’s sister circle get 30% off. Conference volunteers get full access to the event for FREE. If you would like to volunteer OR join our sister circle go to www.mindfulandmelanated.com for more info.

Is the location wheelchair accessible?

Yes

Can I bring children to the event?

No. Due to the sensitive nature of the topics, children are not allowed to attend.

What is the cost of parking?

FREE!

Can I book a room at the hotel?

Yes, however rooms in our discounted room block are limited. They are first come, first served.

Will I be able to talk to a therapist?

Yes! Several therapists attend this event as vendors or volunteers. If you need to speak with someone onsite, you will have the opportunity to do so. However, you will not receive an actual therapy session. You will need to formally book an appointment with them if you want a therapy session.

Will there be opportunities for networking and connecting with other attendees?

Absolutely! We strive to foster connection and a community over competition atmosphere. So bring your business cards, if you have an event coming up, bring your flyers. This conference is not only about healing, but also connecting (that’s the “relate” in relax, relate, release).

What COVID-19 safety measures will be in place during the conference?

Social distancing and masks are encouraged but not required. If you’ve tested positive for COVID or have any of the symptoms, please stay home.

Is this conference open to individuals of all backgrounds, or is it specifically for Black women?

This conference is specifically designed for Black women, as it aims to provide a safe and empowering space tailored to our unique experiences and needs. While the event prioritizes the voices of Black women, allies who genuinely support our mission are welcome to attend.

I cannot attend the conference, but I want to support your mission. How can I contribute?

We are a grassroots operation. We will take as much support as we possibly can. You can support us by making a pledge, being a sponsor, spreading the word, providing gifts/swag for our attendees or purchasing an ad in our program book. For more info visit www.mindfulandmelanated.com.
