Of Hills and Hazards is the theme of KGS's 62nd Annual Seminar. The keynote speaker is Dr. David Applegate, 18th Director of the U.S.G.S.

<p>J﻿oin the Kentucky Geological Survey at Of Hills and Hazards, the 62nd Annual Seminar. This year&#x27;s theme will explore Kentucky geological hazards. </p><p>We are honored to have Dr. David Applegate, 18th Director of the U.S. Geological Survey, as our keynote speaker. His talk is entitled &#x27;Geohazards and Geological Surveys: Bringing Science to Bear When and Where It Matters Most.&#x27; This will also be a special event for KGS Director Dr. William Haneberg. He will present his topic &#x27;Geohazards in the Anthropocene:  Focus on Kentucky,&#x27; which will be one of his last talks as KGS Director and State Geologist. Other topics to be explored include post-flood landslide reconnaissance, ongoing seismic hazards research, Google Earth for geohazards, geologic controls on radon, and more hazard-related issues.</p><p>The seminar is free to attend, but registration is required. Lunch and refreshments are provided. </p><p>The event will take place in the Don &amp; Cathy Jacobs Science Building, 305 Huguelet Drive, room 121.</p>
