Ideal for executives, mid-level management and senior-level job seekers alike, “Leading with Story” addresses how to effectively lead teams through growth and change as well as the art of upskilling while facing an uncertain market.The interactive format of the workshop provides experiential learning that will deepen communication skills and develop a listen-first mindset. Through a weekly series of 3 virtual classes rooted in Narativ’s proprietary storytelling method, you will learn how to:<ul><li>Create and deliver a story that sticks—about who you are and what you do.</li><li>Clarify the “why?” behind your story and the “why now?” to capture the urgency. </li><li>Use sensory detail to generate powerful emotional resonance for your listeners. </li><li>Mine your experiences for great material.</li><li>Streamline your thoughts and shape your story arc.</li><li>Present in a natural way that feels unrehearsed and genuine.</li><li>Create your own 4-minute leadership story for meetings, pitches, vision/mission statement, or interviews. </li></ul>This workshop is delivered in three one-hour modules, once a week, over Zoom. This is key in order to generate the sense of urgency that you want to embody when presenting who you are and what you do. Listening exercises lead to innovative ways of thinking about your values and how to demonstrate them.Session 2: Mapping your storySeptember 14, 12pm to 1pm EasternLearn how to zero in on the essence of your message, using the senses and specific details that are unique to your experience, to connect emotionally with your audiences. Group work and feedback are used in this module to increase your confidence in your ability to generate a compelling story, and demonstrate who you are and what you do. Session 3: Telling your leadership story September 21, 12pm to 1pm EasternIf you’re personally invested in the values, mission and vision you’re expressing through your story, it will captivate and resonate with your audience. Learn how to connect on three levels: audience, story and body. This is crucial to the delivery of your story. Jerome Deroy has led thousands of individuals through training programs all over the world from Fortune 500 companies and household non-profit organizations such as UNICEF to Internet based companies and social enterprises. He also teaches the art of storytelling to students in the Design and Management course at Parsons, The New School of Design, as well as Cornell’s MBA programs in healthcare. He coaches CEOs, startup entrepreneurs, and program officers in the art of storytelling for pitches, fundraising, presentations and keynote addresses. Clients include Prudential, Cigna, Warby Parker, Capital One, Johnson &amp; Johnson, as well as small businesses, and startups in a variety of industries.After obtaining his MBA, he joined the bank BNP Paribas in Hong Kong, where he was marketing manager from 1999 to 2003. He moved to New York in 2004, working as a production manager and distribution coordinator on documentary films. In 2006, he started developing and leading Narativ’s training programs, focusing on applying the programs to client and staff communication and engagement. Julienne B. Ryan, Narativ Trainer, Communications Specialist Julienne B. Ryan is a communication catalyst. She leads her clients through a journey of self–discovery, and self-acceptance as she connects them to the power of personal storytelling. Julienne presents humorous, motivational storytelling presentations that celebrate her client’s challenges and hero moments. She delivers interactive keynotes at national and regional conferences sharing insights about communication, relationships, and leadership. Julienne works with businesses, organizations, educational institutions and non-profit agencies. She facilitates story workshops that focus on leadership, teamwork, communications, relationship building skills and personal growth.Julienne brings to her work, her experience as a talent management professional, educator, and performer. She holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Psychology and Leadership from Teachers College, Colombia University and a dual B.A. in Psychology/Urban Studies from Manhattan College.She is the author of “The Learned-it-in-Queens Communications Playbook – Winning Against Digital Distraction” This humorous ‘playbook’ will help you connect more effectively with others personally and professionally.
