Image: Excerpt from Joanna Ward’s I AM HOPING I DON&#x27;T MISS YOU (2020)On Friday, May 12, 2023, EO presents Perspectives and Disclosures, an evening of solo, duo, and ensemble music assembled by EO Curator and trombonist Chris McIntyre. Situated within historic Speyer Hall at University Settlement House in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, this intergenerational program features an assortment of works written by composers walking different paths in the field. The performing artists of EO bring their prodigious skill and broad experience to bear on this collection of distinctive musical vocabularies. Audiences will hear pieces by the legendary and recently departed Toshi Ichiyanagi (1933-2022) (his mid-career Perspectives (1986) for solo violin featuring Pala Garcia) and Dorothy Rudd Moore (1940-2022) (the duo Moods (1969/2020) performed by Kal Sugatski on viola and John Popham, cello); Den Haag-based composer Diderik Wagenaar (with McIntyre performing La Caccia (1996) for solo trombone); electro-acoustic composer-performer Paula Matthusen (forgiveness anthems (2010) for solo flute and fixed media featuring Margaret Lancaster); and two works of graphic notation performed per tutti - emerging UK-based artist Joanna Ward’s I AM HOPING I DON&#x27;T MISS YOU (2020) and selections from acclaimed interdisciplinary artists Mendi + Keith Obadike’s installation book Big House/Disclosure (2007)PROGRAMToshi Ichiyanagi Perspectives (1986) for solo violinDiderik Wagenaar La Caccia (1996) for trombone soloDorothy Rudd Moore Moods (1969/2020) for viola &amp; celloPaula Matthusen forgiveness anthems (2010) for solo flute and fixed mediaJoanna Ward I AM HOPING I DON&#x27;T MISS YOU (2020) tuttiMendi+Keith Odabike Selections from Big House/Disclosure (2007) tuttiPERSONNELPala Garcia - violin, Margaret Lancaster - flute, Chris McIntyre - trombone, synth, curator, John Popham - cello, Kal Sugatski - violaNOTE: Proof of vaccine will be required to enter (photo of vaccine card is acceptable), and masks must be worn at all times indoors.
