J﻿oin three land trusts to watch the movie &quot;Kiss the Ground&quot; and have a discussion after on soil health and native plants. Frank Wertheim of Maine Cooperative Extension and Ginger Laurits of Wild Seed Project and a Maine Master Gardner will be our resident experts on soils and native plants, and after the film will be an interactive question and answer portion.Agenda:5:30 p.m. - wine + popcorn courtesy of Graves Library 6 - 7:30p.m - &#x27;KISS THE GROUND&#x27; showing. A break halfway through the will movie will allow for some short discussion, and submit questions to moderators - Frank Wertheim and Ginger Laurits 7:30 - 8p.m - answering questions and discussion on soil and native plantsT﻿hose wishing to stay after 8p.m. to keep discussing are welcome! K﻿iss the Ground: Narrated by Woody Harrelson, a documentary on regenerative agriculture, a practice with the extraordinary ability to balance our climate and feed the world. https://kisstheground.com/P﻿arking note: Parking is limited at Graves Library. Please try to park at Consolidated School or on Main Street when possible. Frank Wertheim is an Associate Extension Professor Emeritus, in Agriculture and Horticulture with the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. During his 36-year Cooperative Extension career Wertheim developed educational programs for the farming and gardening communities across Maine. Wertheim has been a state and national leader addressing food insecurity for more than 20 years, including leadership of the Maine Harvest for Hunger and Maine Hunger Dialogue programs. Other noted accomplishments include development of the York County Master Gardener Volunteer program with 729 volunteers trained and the Kids Can Grow youth gardening initiative and which (500+ children successfully completed) and the development of the York County Farmers Network which he helped establish in 2004. Ginger Laurits has been gardening with native plants for over 30 years. She is a York County Master Gardener Volunteer and helps tend the Native Plant Gardens at the Wells Reserve at Laudholm. She is a former board member of Wild Seed Project and has been a seed stewardship volunteer for the past 6 years.
