SFSNAD is a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and preservation of hand embroidery and needlework objects.We do this by offering high quality, educational and exhibition opportunities that honor imagination and creativity, with the goal of advancing the knowledge and practice of needlework and textile arts from around the world.We provide excellence in craft education from beginner to professional levels, taught by knowledgeable educators with diverse cultural and technical perspectives. We engage intergenerational communities who exchange slow craft traditions in a collaborative learning environment. We offer unique exhibition opportunities for both emerging and established artists in our two onsite Galleries, the Hanging Thread Gallery and the Corridor Gallery.

Fashion Design alumnus from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, Kylee Alexander created her very own<a href="https://www.kyleealexander.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"> eponymous clothing line</a> in 2017, <a href="https://www.kikisquiltypleasures.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Kiki&#x27;s Quilty Pleasures </a>brand, the topic of this discussion soon to followed in 2020. Kylee also acts as a cofounding member of &quot;<a href="https://shemakeschicago.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">She Makes Chicago</a>&quot;, an organization dedicated to improving the landscape for creative entrepreneurship within Chicago. Her work as an organizer and educator further extends to Lecturing on the topic of Fashion Design for SAIC, teaching undergraduate studies, and workshop-based courses for both the Early College Program and Adult Continuing Education program within the school.For her design work, Kylee utilizes found textiles and furs for creating artisanal quilted garments from her studio in Chicago, Il. Believing in the importance of honoring the craftsmanship of vintage quilts and their makers, Kylee founded Kiki&#x27;s Quilty Pleasures as a way of reclaiming quilts and transforming them into artisanal quilt coats with a contemporary flair.<a href="https://www.dutchandbow.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"></a> Working with traditional hand stitching and quilting techniques, Kylee emphasizes slow fashion processes through zero waste pattern cutting and small batch production. Crafted by hand in her home studio, each coat becomes a heritage garment, preserving the original textile in a wearable form.
