The Verdant Fund is excited to announce that the 2023 cycle for project grants opens to artists and projects in the state of Alabama on March 16, 2023. Each year, the Verdant Fund awards over $60,000 in grants to Alabama artists creating community-based projects. Grants typically award $7,000 toward funding non-traditional artistic endeavors and public facing projects that would not typically receive funding elsewhere. The Verdant Fund hopes to extend what is possible for creative practice, support risk-taking, seed new cultural production, and deepen the network among culture-bearers.An expansion of the Warhol Foundation’s Regional Re-granting program, the Verdant Fund supports creative practice born of and within Alabama. The fund’s goal is to reach a broad range of artists across all geographic areas of the state. In this effort, the Verdant Fund is hosting a series of virtual and in-person information sessions across the state.RSVP today to learn more about the Verdant Fund and how to apply for a grant award up to $7,000.ABOUT THE VERDANT FUNDThe Verdant Fund is a collaborative effort of Alabama Contemporary Art Center (Mobile, AL), Coleman Center for the Arts (York, AL), and Space One Eleven (Birmingham, AL), established as a partner in the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Regional Regranting Program in 2019. The Regional Regranting Program was established in 2007 to recognize and support the movement of independently organized, public-facing, artist-centered activity that animates local and regional art scenes but lies beyond the reach of traditional funding sources. The program is administered by non-profit visual art centers across the United States that work in partnership with the Foundation to fund artists’ experimental projects and collaborative undertakings.ABOUT THE ANDY WARHOL FOUNDATION FOR THE VISUAL ARTS In accordance with Andy Warhol’s will, the mission of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts is the advancement of the visual arts. The Foundation manages an innovative and flexible grants program while also preserving Warhol’s legacy through creative and responsible licensing policies and extensive scholarly research for ongoing catalogue raisonné projects.
