Making stuff up can make you better at your job! The backbones of improv comedy -- creativity, communication, teamwork, and resilience -- are some of the most highly sought skills in the workplace. The constantly changing situations of improv are great practice for accepting unexpected circumstances, and happily going with the flow.
Dave Mattingly wrote space shuttle software for NASA while he was a teenager with a mohawk and a punk rock radio show. Every day since then has been even more fun and weird. Besides tech geekery, he led three magazines as editor-in-chief, edited about five million words, and created an independent small press which has published over a hundred books. He's also an amateur preacher, or as he describes it, "a rogue operative for the Lord."
