Where is the festival located?

The festival is held on privately purchased grounds originally stolen from the Tenino and Northern Paiute people, the former stewards of the land now known as Smith Rock State Park.

Is this a climbing only festival?

Accepted Answer

No, This festival is for everyone that wants to get outside and experience nature. Although we will be offering climbing clinics it will not be the only events to participate in during the weekend.

Question 3

Do I need prior experience to attend?

Accepted Answer

No, we do not require prior experience, but previous camping experience and access to your own camping gear will make your experience more positive. If you need support with gear or knowledge please reach out to us and we are more than happy to support or answer any questions.

Question 4

Do I need to register to attend?

Accepted Answer

Yes and No. You must register to attend the festival, including to camp or get access to clinics. If you want to come to the camp only evening activities, we will be offering sliding scale entry at the gate after 4pm on Saturday.

Are there non-guided groups to climb or hike with? How will I find folks to get out with?

Aside from our paid clinics with our certified guide team, we will facilitate small group meet-ups for experienced participants to meet likeminded and similar experience levels. These are not supported by OITW and are at your own risk.

Do you need to be registered for the festival to sign up for clinics, hikes or workshops?

Yes, in order to attend clinics, you need a full or local's weekend festival pass. If you have extenuating circumstances and are unable to attend the majority of the festival but want to attend a clinic, please email Nora at nora@outinthewild.org

Who can attend the festival?

Accepted Answer

This festival is for anyone who self identifies as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. All are welcome. This is an all ages event but all folk under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult with a festival pass.

Question 9

Are tickets transferable? What is your refund policy?

Accepted Answer

Tickets are transferable and only refundable up to 30 days before the festival. 2 weeks to 29 days, tickets are transferable or you can receive a credit for future programs. If you cancel within 2 weeks of the event your ticket is still transferable but we are unable to offer a refund.

Is there a waitlist and how does it work?

Yes! If tickets sell out, you will be able to sign up for our waitlist. As spots become available, we will offer to anyone on the waitlist in order that they joined the waitlist. You will have 48 hours upon receiving the email to confirm you spot.

Is this event rain or shine?

Accepted Answer

This event is rain or shine. If presented with hazardous weather conditions we will reevaluate the safety of all participants and staff.

Will there be clinics?

Accepted Answer

YES! There will be climbing clinics and guided topical hikes ranging from beginner to advanced. Sign ups will start in the first week of April!
