The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

A rising star in Jazz teams up with ALL STARS to show you what the future holds. Join us as we present Luis Peralta with mentors James Mahone, Dave Ewell, and Mike Olmos along with rising star Ben Esposito.Rising star Luis Peralta is a 20-year-old pianist from Oakland, California. He began playing piano at seven, embarking quickly on a serious study of European Classical and American Classical Music (Jazz). In 2017 he performed Alex Conde’s Concierto Para Piano Flamenco y Orquesta as a soloist with the Oakland Youth Orchestra. In 2019, Luis was awarded a full scholarship to study piano at the New School. He has studied with and performed with Bay Area figures such as Howard Wiley and Marcus Shelby. Currently, he studies with pianists Sullivan Fortner and John McCarthy.Playing with Luis is an amazing band:James Mahone tenor saxMike Olmos trumpetDave Ewell bassBen Esposito drums
