L.A. Barkman Park

In his last year as mayor, Leonard A Barkman hid his favourite books around Steinbach. Now you’re going to find them. 6:57am at LA Barkman Park (Abe’s Hill) on Saturday, April 15. Rain, snow, or shine. Registration starts 6:30, runner meeting 6:50. You won’t want to miss it.Entry fee, to be delivered at time of event<ul><li>$3.25 cash (no change given)</li><li>1 bag of knack zoat (sunflower seeds)</li></ul>Be prepared to<ul><li>Run around for about 25km (5 laps or varying distance, exact distance is up to you)</li><li>Read a map for navigation</li><li>Be self-sufficient for fueling</li><li>Find books</li></ul>This is a Barkley-inspired event, but don’t worry, you’ll be home by lunch (depending on when you eat lunch). There will be elements of way-finding and the unknown involved, but the chance of hallucinations is low(er). As an open-course event, be sure to follow all rules of the road and be smart. You are responsible for you. Registration is free, but you will not be allowed to participate unless you bring the items detailed above. <h2>F (and less F) AQ</h2>Can I use my watch/phone for nav?If you are caught using navigational aids, you will receive a disappointed gaze, then be allowed to continue. I know it’s no 100 miles, but I still might not be able to finish the full thing (besides, my family eats lunch at 9:30). Can I still join?In the spirit of Barkley, DNF’s are encouraged. Could I partner up with a friend and make this a relay?That’s a cool idea, go for it if you like. Note, lap lengths will vary and will not be posted ahead of time. Entry is $3.25 per runner, one bag of zoat per team.
