Emerald Necklace Conservancy 2019 Annual Meeting: Parks & Health

The Emerald Necklace Conservancy connects people and parks and conserves the Emerald Necklace through projects and programs to enrich the visitor experience and restore and renew the landscape, waterways and parkways. To steward the Emerald Necklace’s 1,100 acres of parkland extending from Boston’s Back Bay through Brookline and Jamaica Plain to Franklin Park in Dorchester, the conservancy works in collaboration with its partners on advocacy, maintenance and restoration, education and access, and promoting park stewardship through volunteer and youth programs.

<P>Join us at our 2019 Annual Meeting as we explore the intersections of parks and health with several engaging speakers. Also, hear from President Karen Mauney-Brodek as we recap the success of our 20th Anniversary year and share our plans for 2019 and beyond.</P>
<P>Presentations will be followed by a Q&A with our speakers and a reception.</P>

<P><STRONG>Sarah Jensen Carr<BR></STRONG><EM>Assistant Professor of Architecture, Urbanism, and Landscape at Northeastern University<BR></EM>Carr’s teaching and research focuses on the connections between landscape, human health, urban ecology and design. She will share her research on Frederick Law Olmsted’s professional background in public health and how it influenced his work.</P>
<P><STRONG>Angela Cleveland, AICP<BR></STRONG><EM>Director of Client Services, Kim Lundgren Associates<BR>President of the Massachusetts Chapter of the American Planning Association<BR></EM>Angela will discuss her work on a Health Impact Assessment of the social, environmental and economic benefits of planting street trees.</P>
