Featuring poems by Emily Dickinson, Christina Rossetti, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Sara Teasdale, Barbara Crooker, and May Swenson set to music by Ruth Morris Gray, Sarah Quartel, Elaine Hagenberg, Gwyneth Walker, and Dale Trumbore, with a brand new setting of Millay’s “Afternoon on a Hill,” written for this concert by David Vernier. Special guest Holly Wren Spaulding will weave her poetry throughout the song selections.Date – Sunday, May 7, 2023Time – 4:00 p.m. (doors open at 3:30 p.m.)Location – Meetinghouse Arts – 40 Main Street, Freeport, ME 04032Tickets –<ul><li>Adults: $25 in advance, $30 at the door</li><li>Students: $10 in advance, $12.50 at the door</li></ul>We encourage you to purchase tickets in advance. Our concert protocols may vary over the course of the season in response to the rise and fall of local COVID rates and corresponding CDC recommendations.ABOUT SWEETEST IN THE GALESweetest in the Gale (SinG), the Oratorio Chorale’s women’s chorus, takes its name from a poem by Emily Dickinson, “Hope Is the Thing with Feathers.” Founded in 2015, “SinG” is an auditioned ensemble of 25–30 singers directed by Maria Belva that explores the robust repertoire of choral works for women’s voices with a focus on technique, musicianship skills, and building community.
