Zuru Zuru - Malden Reads Community Dinner

Malden Reads is a community reading program that seeks to discover what could happen if all of Malden read the same book. Organized by community groups, city leaders, and residents, in collaboration with the Malden Public Library and Urban Media Arts (UMA), the program invites the community to read the same book and participate in a series of events related to the book’s themes. The goals of the program are to promote literacy, a love of reading, and an appreciation of city resources, but most of all, to build community in the city of Malden.

Zuru Zuru Ramen and Donburi

Malden Reads will host a Community Dinner at <a href="https://www.zuruzururamen.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Zuru Zuru</a> restaurant in Malden as part of the 2023 event series.Community Dinners at local restaurants are a tradition for the One City, One Book program. They are a chance to meet others, share a delicious meal, and support a local business, all while engaging in informal discussions related to the topics of this year’s book selection. Though encouraged, you do NOT need to have read the book to attend. General “Table Talk” prompts will be provided.Who doesn’t like a great bowl of tasty broth with noodles, veg, meat? Zuru Zuru is the sound of the slurping that is part of the ramen experience. Our book selection “They Called Us Enemy” is George Takei’s graphic memoir of his time in the internment camps during WWII. Inspired by his story of his Japanese culture, we will dine at Zuru Zuru and discuss related topics, inclusive of everyone who&#x27;d like to take part in this event.Select one menu item below per ticket. These selections are gluten friendly. Non-alcoholic beverages are available for purchase. #1 Tonkotsu Ramen. The original Tonkotsu broth flavored with Okinawa Sea Salt, thin straight noodle, pork belly cha-shu, ajitama egg, nori seaweed, kikurage mushroom, scallion, bamboo shoots.#2 Gyudon Sliced marbled beef slow cooked in Yuru take with carmelized onion, scallion, pickled vegetables, sesame seeds, served on steamed rice.#3 Vegetable Chintan Shoyu Ramen 100% vegan Kombu broth seasoned with Shoyu soy sauce , thick wavy noodle, seasonal vegetables, tofu skin, nori, bamboo shoots,Your ticket price includes your entree choice and a small appetizer plate. Tax and tip are included. Alcohol is not served at this establishment.Health Advisory: We all want this dinner to be a safe and fun experience.
