Powerful Beyond Measure (PBM) is a non-profit that implements efforts towards youth and community development; focusing oncreative, academic, professional, civic, socialandpersonalgrowth by strategically integrating the arts, entertainment, sports and media industries into programming. Our vision is to utilize these influential fields to reach the urban communities of our targeted youth, via multi-dimensional services that will help positively shape young people and empower the adults around them to become active leaders and contributors.PBM is primarily funded by donations and corporate sponsorships. Founded in 2006, the organization began with its charter program,C.A.P.E. League– a multi-dimensional youth enrichment  program. In 2007, we launchedExploring Possibilities, a unique career day for teens and young adults to discover non-traditional professions. Since 2008, we have producedPBM’s Weekly Source Email– an on-line newsletter distributed to DC area residents, community groups and non-profits. It lists public events, job openings, services, scholarships and programs.PBM uses the arts, entertainment and sports as tools to motivate.  This approach was developed upon the realization that these fields are powerful by way of their appeal and influence on our target population. By harnessing that power to make programs more appealing, we can continue to implement the important values and societal offerings of more conventional non-profits.Powerful Beyond Measure believes we can help each other realize our potential for greatness, inspire the pursuit of success, and make powerful strides by working together for altruistic purposes.“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. J﻿oin Powerful Beyond Measure as we celebrate Heroes in the Community with a brunch, silent auction, and bonus event. As we come together over a sumptuous meal we will honor those who give back through their time, money and resources; while also raising funds for youth who need our support and inspiration! Hosted by Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/people/keith-l-alexander/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Keith Alexander</a>!Salute to Our Heroes Brunch (11:30am - 3 pm) - Join us for a plentiful, private brunch at the elegant City Club of Washington (see pic below). Guests will enjoy a plated meal accompanied by a variety of desserts, seafood platters, and appetizers, while celebrating outstanding community members.Silent Auction (11am -3pm) Our celebrated silent auction will occur throughout the brunch and feature everything from fun experiences to artwork, restaurant outings to novelty items! Guests always go home with amazing gifts. After-Hours Party: Enjoy an adults-only night out with music, fun and special gifts! This May, Powerful Beyond Measure (PBM) hosts its first PBM’s Annual Salute to Our Superheroes event and fundraiser to recognize real-life heroes who go above and beyond to support youth and the community.Powerful Beyond Measure is an inclusive arts and youth enrichment organization founded in 2006, based in the DC metropolitan area. Our organization’s mission is to implement efforts towards youth and community development, focusing on creative, academic, professional, civic, and personal growth, by strategically integrating the influential arts, entertainment, and sports industries into programming. Over the years we have humbly served over 1000 adolescents with year-round programming, educational travel opportunities, mentors and career/entrepreneurial development. Proceeds from this event will go towards:•	Weekly programming for our signature program, C.A.P.E. League (50%)•	A week-long student retreat to Phoenix, AZ (30%)•	Administrative needs (5%)•	Weekly meals for CAPE (10%)The superhero theme celebrates everyday people who activate their powers of kindness, generosity, mentorship, and activism to make a positive impact in the communities they serve. The theme also references PBM’s signature program, “C.A.P.E. League” which empowers adolescents to identify and unleash their inner Super Hero.

Keith L. Alexander is a premiere journalist for The Washington Post. Alexander has covered dozens of crime stories, including that of Banita Jacks, a Washington woman charged with killing her four daughters, and the murder trial in the death of slain federal intern Chandra Levy. In 2016, Alexander was part of the team of Washington Post reporters who won the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for a year-long investigation into fatal police shootings called "Fatal Force."Alexander was a contributor to the 2007 Pulitzer Prize-winning coverage of the Virginia Tech campus shootings and a contributor to The Post’s 2006 series and subsequent book, “Being a Black Man.” He has appeared on numerous national and local TV and radio news programs, including the Today show, MSNBC, “CBS Morning News,” “NBC News With Brian Williams,” ESPN, PBS’s “The MacNeil/Lehrer Report” and “BET News.” Before joining The Post in early 2001, Alexander also wrote for USA Today, Businessweek magazine and The Dayton Daily News.
