From cutting-edge documentaries that give depth to today’s headlines to smart, stunning films that push artistic and intellectual boundaries in all genres, Women Make Movies (WMM), a non-profit feminist social enterprise based in New York, is the world’s leading distributor of independent films by and about women. Our Production Assistance Program assists women directors with their productions from concept through completion with fiscal sponsorship, consultations and other technical assistance. We work with creative, ground-breaking films which win awards at festivals around the world. Films and filmmakers we have supported have been nominated for or won Academy® Awards in 12 of the past 13 years.REFUND POLICY |No refunds will be given for any workshop registrations.  If you are unable to make the workshop but notify us up to 24 hours prior to the actual workshop date, you may receive a credit for another workshop within one year. Workshops may be cancelled by WMM due to insufficient enrollment. All instructors are subject to change.

Have you ever gotten over the finishing line of making your film and felt burnt-out and totally overwhelmed by the thought of selling and pitching it to distributors? Consider bringing on a sales agent! In this session, we will cover how to find and work with experts who can help bring your film to streamers, broadcasters, and distributors – both domestically and internationally! Come learn from two experts in the field of film sales – Rupeshi Shah from the Sales Group at <a href="https://cineticmedia.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Cinetic Media</a> (<a href="https://www.wmm.com/catalog/film/coded-bias/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Coded Bias</a>, Oscar-winner Summer of Soul, Knock Down the House) and Anaïs Clanet from <a href="https://reservoirdocs.net/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Reservoir Docs</a> (1341 Frames of Love and War, Francesca and Love, Venus de Milo: Disarming Beauty) – who have a wealth of experience and knowledge about the North American and international film markets. As a Junior Executive at Cinetic, Rupeshi Shah manages tracking across the company for sales, finance and talent management. In this role, Rupeshi is searching for unique stories and storytellers from around the world. Prior to Cinetic, Rupeshi worked in documentary production, with credits on HBO’s Spielberg, Jane Fonda In Five Acts and Very Ralph. She has a B.A. in Film Production and Broadcast Journalism from NYU.

Anaïs Clanet is the Partner &amp; Head of Sales and Acquisitions at <a href="https://reservoirdocs.net/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Reservoir Docs</a>. Formerly Head of Sales at Wide House, Reservoir Docs is an independent international sales company specialized in cultural, engaging and cinematic documentaries.Some of their films include Talking About Trees by Subaib Gasmelbari (Best Documentary at Berlinale 2019), Shabu directed by Shamira Raphaëla and awarded Best Youth Documentary last year in IDFA and Special Mention at the Berlinale 2022, and The Other Fellow, a first-feature directed by Matthew Bauer, a new British documentary exploring the theme of male identity through the lives, personalities, and adventures of a diverse group of men who share the same name: James Bond.Reservoir Docs took over Anais’ former catalogue including the timeless multi-awarded The Black Power Mixtape.
