Festival of writing and ideas: the Journey 11th -12th March

On the 11th &amp; 12th March, the British Council, British Embassy and British School at Athens (BSA) will welcome novelists, poets, academics and archivists to the BSA for a festival of writing in the ancient and modern worlds with theme of the Journey. 
Amid the inspiring gardens and buildings of the BSA, an institution founded in 1886, we will host panellists to talk about the Journey from a range of perspectives and including the practicalities and the ideals. 
At the same time, we will open the BSA archives to give participants the opportunity to see first-hand some of the 18th and 19th century travellers accounts of their journeys to Greece. We will offer workshops on recording the journey through inscriptions. 
Our vision is to provide an inspiring space in the grounds of the BSA to consider, challenge and renew ideas about the Journey in writing, by bringing together scholars and writers from a range of disciplines in Literature, Poetry, Drama, Ancient History, Classics, Archaeology, to name but a few. We will offer different means of ideas-sharing on writing the journey in ancient and modern contexts through panel discussions, workshops and hands on activities.
