An Evening of Dance with Desueño DanceMay 24th &amp; 25th, Desueño Dance returns to Links Hall to present an evening of choreography featuring Desueño Vision, a Latin Jazz ensemble, and Desueño Latin. The performance showcases current Desueño repertoire. **Doors at 7p, Show at 7:30p**Names of Performers: Denita Inez, Venice Averyheart, Matthew Echevarria, Julia Gregory, Susanna Hostetter, Yuko Maia, Linda Nguyen, Yukako Nishibori, Joanna Orzeskla, Elizabeth Redican, Octavia Reese, Lola Schaefer, Danielle Thomas, Mary Vo &amp; Special GuestsCompany Bio / Info: Desueño Dance consists of two dance troupes, Desueño Latin and Desueño Vision. Desueño Latin is a shine team that performs choreography with a strong emphasis on Salsa On2 and other Latin styles. Desueño Vision performs choreography inspired by Afro and Latin rhythms fused with Modern and jazz movements. Desueño creates community performances and emphasizes sharing the joy of dance. The company’s motto is “We Dance With People”. Desueño creates art for audiences to enjoy. Performer Bios / Info: Denita Inez is a dancer, choreographer, and instructor who focuses on dance as an accessible form of entertainment and self-exploration. She is currently on staff at Lake Forest Dance Academy, and Director of Operations at Dancing with Class. She has danced with Chicago Dance Crash, Modern Clave, and Noumenon Dance Ensemble. Denita is the artistic director of Desueño Latin and Desueño Vision dance troupes. Fun Fact: Denita enjoys playing designer board games with her current favorite being Dominion. This is Venice Averyheart’s fourth season with Desueño Vision and she is excited to be dancing with this company again. Venice is also an aspiring actress and has done several stage plays and film. In between dance rehearsals and memorizing her lines, she enjoys hanging out with Netflix. Lola Schaefer is a modern/contemporary dancer based in Chicago. She also directs the dance program at Kenwood Academy High School. She has danced with Movement Revolution, Matter Dance Company, and this is her second season with Desueño! Fun fact: she has a Spotify playlist for every mood. Danielle Thomas is a youth advocate and a percussive dance artist with a background in hip hop, soca, and afro-dancehall Fusion. She has danced with Matter Dance Company and Fiyah Fit Dance group. This is her third season dancing with Desueño. Fun Fact: Danielle has a B.A in theater and loves to travel and cook in her spare time. “ Susanna Hostetter holds a B.A. in Anthropology and Dance from Macalester College. Susanna has trained in modern, jazz, and Latin, and studied West African dance forms in Tamale, Ghana. She teaches dance to CPS students as a Teaching Artist and shares her love of movement with adults as a dance fitness instructor. This is Susanna's second season with Desueño. Fun Fact: Susanna has traveled to over 30 countries and loves plotting new adventures! Born in Chicago, Illinois, Matthew Echevarria is a Dance Educator from Illinois State University. While there, he was a member of their dance company for three years and recently completed his studies under scholarship. This is his second season dancing with Desueño Vision and is very excited to share this love for dance with everyone. Fun Fact: During his free time Matthew enjoys crafting and building cosplay armor and collecting display swords. Octavia Reese is a multi-disciplined polymath with a passion to make a difference in the world and lift up her neighbors to their own greatness. She is a cellist, author, dancer and much more. This is her third season with Desueño Vision.
